Yes we can!

I haven't really blogged for a while.. okay a long while.  I haven't really had much to share, plus with the shift to Facebook... our attention spans have gotten shorter, we've been blogging less and less, and started Super Poking more and more.

Over three years ago, I started on my Capstone for my Master's in Public Administration.  Our group proposed that UH should expand the U-Pass program ($100 transit pass for college students) to all UH students for a nominal student fee - $20/per semester. I think we were really close two years ago, but our group graduated and the movement lost all momentum.

Apparently, within the last year, ASUH picked up the torch and it was presented to the Board of Regents today. And it was passed unanimously by the BoR, and I hear there was also some applause that followed. Crazy?!  I can't believe that it finally happened. It's all kinda surreal actually. And the benefits.. cost savings, environmental benefits, alleviating parking and traffic congestion, etc...

It would not of happened with just our tiny three person group. There are so many people who got involved from our advisor, the administration, student groups, the city, and the transit authority. Thank all of you for caring and making this become a reality.

Recycle...

I just finished watching the Heroes premiere, and I was unimpressed.  It was okay, but seriously, the writers need to stop recycling storylines from old movies and comics. So far, here are a few that really jumped out at me:

- Days of Future Past (again...) - Peter
- The Fly - Mohinder
- Gateway & X-men post-Siege Perilous - Parkman

And how many "heroes" don't have the power to see the frickin' future? Jeez...

ABC's of Star Wars

This may be old news, but I'm totally geek-ing out to these cool illustrations by illustrator Michael Flemming:

Star Wars ABC's

or he has a flicker page:

I like that he doesn't use the obvious characters like "H is for Han Solo" or "C is for Chewbacca".

J is for Jawa

S is for Sarlacc
